We already covered Geoff Johns’ departure from Aquaman earlier tonight (as you will here on the podcast slightly), but it seems creative changes are a prevalent theme over at DC, as Brian Buccellato and Francis Manapul have now confirmed that they are leaving ‘The Flash’ after issue #25.
Again, as with Johns, this is apparently nothing to do with any editorial issues, which seem to be a constant thorn in the side of DC creative-types. Instead, the pair are leaving the book voluntarily to focus on a new (as yet unannounced) DC title due for release in March 2014. Christos Gage will take over ‘The Flash’ for issue #26 with Neil Googe on art, but as yet it there has been no long term creative team announced for the title.
It seems a little strange that two such high-profile books are seeing these creative switch-ups in the same month. Perhaps DC are making changes to try to match pace with Marvel as they move into the next phase of Marvel NOW? Only time will tell, but at this rate, 2014 is looking very interesting.
