GK’s Under The Influence: Skrull Burgers
You know it’s not often life imitates art but it happens. The hoopla the other week surrounding horse meat entering the food chain as beef got me thinking, It brought up a lot of talk about food processors not being ethical hardly anything a superhero would do is it?
Except that totally happened and not even with horses but with Skrulls which you may remember since it’s become part of FF lore since. But way back when Fantastic Four first encountered Skrull it was because they had framed them for crimes they did not commit to clear the way for an invasion. Too cut a long story short the Fantastic Four foil their pans and clear their names. But instead of interning the Skrull saboteurs Reed hypnotizes them into believing they are Cows, and leaves them on the pastures of a farm whereby they enter the food chain.
Now for one of the worlds most renowned intellects you would assume he would realise where cows on farms end up. But he leaves them there they are ultimately turned into Skrull burgers which have mutagenic effects on anyone who eats them and again Reed did little for this, This was of course the catalyst for the excellent Skrull Kill Krew.
Now when you combine that with taking his teenage girlfriend and her brother into space in an unsafe spacecraft and then his behaviour in later years like the Civil War well he comes across as totally irresponsible.
If anything he could maybe even an idiot savant more that than a superhero or a genius atleast.
So that’s all I got this week but as usual feel free to sound of if you agree or disagree that Read Richards is an idiot savant?
Moooooo
