This is an interesting developement as it was reported that Book Studios purchased smaller rival Archaia.

Boom studios is of course the publisher of many high profile licensed character such as Adventure Time, Hellraiser and the upcoming Sons of Anarchy comic book. They have also scored hits with titles such as Incorruptible and Fanboys vs. Zombies. Where as Archaia it would appear tend to print more left field independent fare.

Archaia announced through there website;

Exciting news for Archaia Entertainment and BOOM! studios fans! We are now merging together to create the largest indie comics studio in Los Angeles.

This was followed with a link to deadline who had previously broke the story.

But what does this mean?, Will it create a new larger company who could potentially compete IDW or possibly Dark Horse? or is this simply a larger company buying out a smaller one simply because they can?
It’s hard to tell at this point but either way it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on as the it develops.
