It looks as though August 1st 2014 will features a “clash of the titans” as Fifty Shades of Grey has set the same opening date as the eagerly anticipated Marvel cosmic epic.

Marvel had this date ring-fenced  for the Jame Gunn-directed feature for quite some time, making the decision to open the Fifty Shades of Grey film on the same date an even more baffling decision by Focus Features, given the Marvel Studios films track record for hoovering up the box office.

It is also extremely constrained in it’s potential audience as there are obvious limits on gender and age that this film will appeal to. That being said, it still hasn’t stopped films like Twilight from making box office money.
