“The Sandman: Overture” added to Vertigo overhaul.
NY Times.com have revealed that as part of DC’s ongoing overhaul of its Vertigo imprint, the eagerly anticipated Sandman prequel by Neil Gaiman and J.H. Williams III will be entitled ‘The Sandman: Overture’ and will hit shelves in October.
According to The New York Times, the six-issue Sandman mini-series will be joined by several other titles, including “The Discipline” by Peter Milligan (“an erotic thriller about a woman at the centre of an eons-spanning shadow war”) and “Hinterland” by Ian Edginton (based in “a post-apocalyptic world in which creatures of myth and legend have returned”).
These new releases join such well-received recent additions as Astro City, Brother Lono and The Wake.
It seems that reports predicting Vertigo’s demise following the departure in March of founding editor Karen Berger were a little premature.
What do we make of this news, then?
