So to follow up on the news that Avengers 2 will be Age of Ultron, Fans expecting this to be a segway for introducing Hank Pym will be sorely disappointed. Not only was the founding Avengers member overlooked during the first Avengers movie in favour of Hawkeye statements made by Joss Whedon have made it clear he will not be in Age of Ultron.

CBM has quoted Joss from SDCC as saying:

“Well, because there was a book called ‘Age of Ultron’ quite recently, a lot of people have assumed that is what we’re doing, but that is not the case. We’re doing our own version of the origin story for Ultron. In the origin story, there was Hank Pym, so a lot of people assumed that he will be in the mix. He’s not. We’re basically taking the things from the comics for the movies that we need and can use. A lot of stuff has to fall by the wayside.”

Now granted Hank Pym has never quite reached the levels of comic book stardom as Tony Stark or the Hulk or Thor but as someone who in the comics was such an essential cog in the lore of the Avengers and also in the creation of Ultron this news will certainly split some fans.
