This week’s blog is actually something of a retraction. Well, sort of. I’m not going to go so far as to admit I was totally wrong but hey, I might not have been quite so right as I thought I was.

A few weeks ago I was having an argument with some friends about Superman on the grounds that he’s one of the most boring and unimaginative characters I’ve ever encountered. An immortal man with nigh on limitless power and an absolute sense of moral stability with an Achilles heel that writers always find an utterly contrived way of ignoring? YAWN.

Now, the point I was making is that the many people who disagree with me on this (often vehemently) always point to elseworld books or something otherwise non canon when trying to counter my claim although I freely admit that when writers put a spin on the character outside of main continuity it can be quite interesting.

However in all fairness I have to admit that I have just finished volume 2 of Earth One Superman and just referring to it as an interesting read is unfair. It is a superb story and does an excellent job of making Clark indestructible but somehow morally and emotionally vulnerable. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Main continuity supes still sucks though
