Empire Magazine shared some interesting news for fans of the marmite (either love it or despise it) classic that is The Supermario Bros. movie will get a new lease of life almost 20 years after it’s release as a comic.

The original movie which starred Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as dimension crossing plumbers Mario and Luigi Mario ended with one of the most sequel baiting endings ever. As Princess Daisy (Samantha Mathis) burst through their apartment door and warning them of a new unknown threat and causing the titular brothers to belt up to return to Dinohattan, The scene is on youtube if you need a refresher.

But a sequel was never made, Due to the thrashing it received by fans of the original Nintendo game, critics and the box office in general after it’s release. But as audiences who seen it have grown up the movie has gained somewhat of a cult following.

The comic by writers Steven Applebaum and Ryan Hoss will pick up this plot thread and what’s more is that it is an online comic so you will be able to catch it without leaving the house.
