Writer: John “T.B. Grover” Wagner, Alan Grant
Artist: Carlos Ezquerra

This was a horrible read poorly written and drawn… Yeah right! You have Wagner and Grant on writing duties and Carlos Ezquerra drawing on a ‘classic’ Judge Dredd story, there is no way this review can’t be summed up by simply saying “epic”. But for the sake of clarity I will give you some more thoughts. Now if you have read read the first two issues of Classics which lifted the ‘Block Mania’ you will know the Judges from the soviet East Meg One have spread a contaminant throughout Mega City One which causes widespread riots while launching their attack on the Big Meg.

Overall this story tied up excellently, With the Judges fighting on all sides and this helped to show Dredd for who he is continuing to fight and dispense justice while all hell brakes loose… Regardless he brushes of his injuries and carries on. A pleasant side affect of IDW adapting (or reprinting) an anthological story such as this is that it ends with a cliffhanger and a huge one at that.

There is also something about reading a Judge Dredd story drawn by Carlos Ezquerra that fits right, Maybe I am just saying that with hindsight but his Dredd has the right level of tired and beaten up whilst looking intimidating at the same time that Dredd should. Also seeing the sky filled with missiles and Mushroom clouds hitting populated area that really adds to the drama. The artwork is also complimented reasonably well with the coloration given to the title that wasn’t in the original.

So if your are a fan it is worth picking up to catch it in color, If you are new it does lead in from ‘Block Mania’ but is contained enough to understand yet also something you should really pick up.

Rating: 8.5/10.
