Weighing in at an incredible 314 pages IDW present us with another collection of classic GI Joe stories from the 80’s and two bonus stories from 2008. Fans of the classic cartoon series and action figure line will get a nostalgic kick out of the 80’s stuff here especially if you happen to be a big Snake Eyes fan as we get treated to his 2 part origin story in this volume.
The 2008 story that follows also gives us a glimpse at the mysterious ninja’s past as we see him undergo his initiation test to become a true ninja.
The rest of the collection is what you would expect from GI Joe in the 80’s. Cobra make plans to rule the world, The Joes turn up and save the day, everyone is happy……well……except Cobra Commander.
While not essential reading it is a fun blast of nostalgia and the art is typical of the 80’s and mostly good with only a few panels lacking much detail or characters lacking expression (One panel I remember Zartan actually looking like his action figure counterpart) but those are minor gripes really.
One for Gi Joe collectors out there or those curious to see a little old school 80’s action stories.
Rating: 6/10.
