Well, it looks like this is officially news! The rumours have been flying for a couple of months now, but Variety sources have confirmed that Paul Rudd is officially in early negotiations to play the lead in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Ant-Man film.

Rudd is best known for his comedy work, and is currently starring in Anchorman 2. He may not be everyone’s first choice to play a superhero, but with Edgar Wright directing Ant-Man, it seems pretty likely that Rudd’s comedy-acting chops will be put to good use.

Marvel have yet to comment on the casting. Ant-Man is scheduled for release on July 31, 2015.
