Indeed it does!

I couldn’t help but dedicate this week’s ‘Credit’ to Dark Horse, as it was announced yesterday that come 2015, Marvel will be taking over the Star Wars comics license. It’s a move we all knew would happen eventually when Disney acquired both Marvel and Lucasfilm, but where that may take us in Star Wars comics remains to be seen.

Dark Horse have been publishing Star Wars comics since 1991, and although the overall quality has wavered between titles over the years, there is little doubt that the publisher has largely remained true to the franchise, producing tons of original stories from a wealth of top notch creators, and at this point it’s hard to imagine the books coming from anyone else, despite Marvel originally having the license way back when.

The current SW titles hitting shelves are arguably some of the best we have seen in a good while (with Brian Wood’s ‘Star Wars’ being a real highlight for me personally), and although they have had a good innings, and I’m on-board with the move to Marvel, Dark Horse have certainly set themselves up as a hard act to follow, even for the Marvel powerhouse.
