This brand new sci-fi detective title is based on Midway City – also known as ‘the Fuse’ – which is an orbiting space station of vast proportion which seems to have the same issues as the lower levels of Babylon 5.
Newly arrived cop Dietrich finds his first case and partner practically the moment he disembarks and is soon on a headfirst initiation to the ways of the Fuse.
I can’t say much more without spoilers, but suffice to say there are hints of corruption, serial killers, serious delinquency and a whole lot more for a pair of underworked cops to get their teeth into.
This series could definitely have legs, even if it hasn’t quite hit it’s stride yet.
The muted colours and sharp angles of the artwork are fitting for the slum in orbit setting and put me in mind of classic 2000 AD style artwork.
All in all, this is a solid first outing, if not quite mind blowing just yet. One to watch.
Rating: 3/5.
