Let’s bring you up to date. The world has gone to hell with monsters crawling out from under every rock thanks to the return of the Black Flame. This issue sees the B.P.R.D. & their Russian allies making inroads into New York, domain of the sinister Zinco Corporation.

Hell in a handbasket. That’s what’s going on here and it’s AWESOME. Isolated, outmatched yet still resolving to be on the attack, I can see some real fireworks in the future of this title.

Plot wise this issue is more about setting up the next big set piece than a storyline crux in itself, but if you’re following the arc there’s more than enough to keep you hooked, especially the realisation of what our heroes are walking into and just how brutal the Zinco regime actually is.

The art is (as you’d expect) functional and beautiful, perfectly conveying the action, otherworldly horror and wistfulness of the characters by turns.

I really enjoyed this book and I think you will too, but it’s not a pivotal issue by any means.

Rating: 3/5.
