This is outright bizarre so bear with me. Here we have a comic based on a true story which happened in the massively popular videogame EVE Online. So – real events from a fictional online world, instigated by real people playing the game online. Cool? Yeah, I know that doesn’t make any sense…

So, we have two sides in a massive online war. The rich, powerful and increasingly complacent ‘Band of Brothers’. These guys rule many of the available sectors of space. We also have ‘Goonswarm’ who form part of rebellion against ‘Band of Brothers.’

Haargoth Agmar is a Director of one of the companies that make up ‘Band of Brothers’ and he is just sick of it all! He remembers more adventurous times full of ass kicking and war. Poor Haargoth. He yearns for the glory days, presumably from his swirly computer chair. The script is very serious and dramatic. Seeing Haargoth drowning his sorrows in some space pub feels odd and well, a bit silly.

It’s quite hard to tell what is going on and who Goonswarm actually are. The art is a frenzy or beam weapons and hulking space cruisers but with so much happening, it’s hard to tell who is who and why they are even fighting in the first place.

Eve True Stories is a muddled affair about a fascinating event which happened in an MMORPG. It should’ve stayed there.

At least it’s free.
