Last year, Bruce Timm and Man of Steel director Zach Snyder worked together on the Superman 75th Anniversary Animated Short. If the name Bruce Timm sounds familiar – which it should – he is the man responsible for Batman: The Animated Series of the 90’s, widely considered to be the Golden Age of Warner Bros. Animation.  And, to commemorate Batman’s 75th anniversary, Timm is making a return to produce Batman: Strange Days.

A brand new short from featuring a lost tale from Batman’s past, ‘Strange Days’ sees The Dark Knight tracking a strange giant to the mysterious lair of Dr. Hugo Strange.

The animation style is similar to the last season of The Batman Adventures, which changed in order to create a continuity with Superman: The Animated Series. Like the original series, the setting is inspired by the 1940s. Clearly influenced by film noir, the black-and-white visual aesthetics create an old school crime drama vibe.

Are you excited to see Bruce Timm return to the world of Batman? Did you like Batman: The Animated Series? Which episode was your favorite?

Batman: Strange Days is scheduled to air on Cartoon Network on Wednesday, April 9th, 2014 after Teen Titans Go!

  1. […] New Bruce Timm Batman short “Strange Days” set to air next week […]

  2. It will be good to see if Timm can separate himself from the growing toxicity of Paul Dini, who was great in the early 90s but has done almost nothing in recent years but attack portions of the fandom in mean-spirited editorial stunts to raise hopes and dash them. He has personally driven thousands from comics that needed them, and has done all he can to spread the poison into other corners of the fandom like games and television, People are beginning to realize it too, so it’s wise of Bruce Timm to save his personal brand if he can.

    1. …I’ve read alot of Dini’s DC comics work of late and listened to the “Fatman” podcasts (though I have yet to see his Marvel work), what’s he done that’s so heinous? I read his blog for a long time and I can’t think of anything that falls into the categories your talking about.

In future, if your going to use words like “toxicity” to describe what someones done, it’d be cool to hear what they’ve actually done that’s so horrible.

Additionally, it should be noted that Timm and Dini haven’t worked on the same show since JLU’s “my little piggy” and that was nearly a decade ago.

At any rate- OMG NEW BRUCE TIMM BATMAN ANIMATION. OH GOD. OH GOD. IS CONROY VOICING HIM? PLEASE SAY YES. OH GOD. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
