FCBD14-rectangle_2014_facebookThe numbers from this years Free Comic Book Day have been circulated and seem largely positive. Figures suggest that as many as 1 million comic book fans collected free comics at the 2,100 participating retailers across the world.

Those 1 million fans collected 4.5 million of the 60 books in this years initiative, now for anyone who can count that means there are 4 and half comics available each but we know that’s not that case. This is why it is important to get down to your local store as soon as possible on free comic book day.

There was an increase in the number of articles across the internet in relation to FCBD 2014 as well as in broadcast media, with 1,000 broadcasters choosing to run stories on the event.

Not only that but there was an increase in social media with 108,00 Tweets referring to it and an increase in Facebook interaction with 390,000 directly interacting with the page. Proving that the online presence of the event played a large part in reaching new comic book readers, 490,000+ readers used the Freecomicbookday.com’s store locator to find their nearest retailer.

Feedback from retailers on the event was also largely positive this year — with 87% of retailers reporting back as being satisfied which works out as 1,827 retailers having had a successful day this year.

But how successful did you find this year?

If you are a comic fan did you buy other goods?, are you a new buyer? or if you are a retailer how busy was your store? — sound off and let us know.
