Ant-Man-Movie-Costume-HelmetWell, after a lot of rampant speculation, Marvel have stepped forward and confirmed that the director who will take over from Edgar Wright on their upcoming Ant-Movie is none other than… Peyton Reed!

Now, before you all go off scrambling to Google and IMDb to figure out just who the heck that is, Reed’s previous CV includes the likes of Yes Man, Bring It On and The Break Up, which makes him a curious choice to say the least.  However, we’re willing to reserve judgment until we see more (as always).

In an interesting footnote to the story, one of the main names rumoured to take over from Wright in the director’s chair – Adam McKaywill be involved in the project, albeit in an assistant scriptwriter capacity.  And with Marvel announcing two fimmakers with such a firm grounding in comedy, it’s not a wild stretch to predict just what the tone of the Paul Rudd-led film is going to be.

So, what do you make of this announcement by Marvel, and what has it done to your expectations for Ant-Man?

  1. I’m a bit nervous for the movie now because Peyton Reed doesnt stand out as an action/superhero director, but I’m also willing to give him a chance and see what he can do.

    1. I get the impression Ant-Man isn’t going to be your typical full-blown superhero movie, so perhaps a more humorous approach might be the best way to go?
