Following the announcement that Roc Upchurch will no longer be the artist on Image/Shadowline’s ongoing Rat Queens series, it was confirmed today that Stjepan Seljic (Witchblade/Sunstone) will take over art duties from issues #9 to #11.

Seljic’s artwork will debut in the pages of issue nine on February 25th, but in the interim, The Rat Queens Special: Braga #1 will go on sale on the 14th of January, featuring guest artist Tess Fowler.

On the subject of the announcement, Image Comics Vice President Jim Valentino said “Having admired Stjepan’s work at Top Cow for some time now I’m extremely excited about his coming on board to Rat Queens. He will usher in an exciting new era for one of our most popular titles.”

Series writer Kurtis J. Wiebe added, “I’m excited to have Stjepan bring the Rat Queens to life in his distinctive style, a voice that understands both the heart and the humor of Hannah, Dee, Betty and Violet. The future of the series is brighter than ever and we’re looking forward to getting new issues out to fans.”
