Jake Gylenhaal could be set to play Rick Flagg

UPDATED: Latino Review has reported that Tom Hardy apparently walked away from ‘Suicide Squad’ over problems with the script.

While original reports cited scheduling conflicts as the reason for Hardy’s exit, it is now being reported that he originally signed on without seeing a completed script, and that recent story changes have moved the character of Rick Flagg to more of a supporting role; something which has caused the actor to lose interest in the project.

ORIGINAL STORY: Tom Hardy has exited the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad’ movie, with director David Ayer apparently eyeing Jake Gyllenhaal as a potential replacement to play the role of Rick Flagg.

According to The Wrap, Hardy’s exit is due to an unforeseen scheduling clash. Sources say that Hardy’s current project ‘The Revenant’ has run over-schedule, and is now expected to last until at least mid March, by which point the actor will be gearing up to promote Mad Max: Fury Road, due this summer.

David Ayer is reportedly looking to Jake Gylenhaal to replace Hardy, with the two having worked together previously on ‘End Of Watch’.

With all camps holding back on any official announcements, we’re waiting to see any solid reports, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on any developments.
