DC Comics imprint Vertigo have just announced not one but two collaborations with Mad Max: Fury Road director, producer and co-writer George Miller based on the upcoming film.

The first collaboration, MAD MAX: FURY ROAD: INSPIRED ARTISTS, will contain double-page spreads from 65 visionary artists bringing their own unique style to the world of Mad Max: Fury Road. Artists participating include Lee Bermejo, Dave McKean, Cliff Chiang, Nicola Scott, Stephanie Hans and Tara McPherson. This book is due to hit shelves on May 6, prior to the film’s May 15th release.

The second collaboration will see George Miller, Nico Lathouris and Mark Sexton writing four prelude stories that follow leading characters Nux, Immortan Joe, Furiosa, and Mad Max (whose story will be in two parts).

This miniseries will release one issue a month, starting with MAD MAX: FURY ROAD: NUX & IMMORTAN JOE  on May 20, followed by MAD MAX: FURY ROAD: FURIOSA and MAD MAX: FURY ROAD: MAD MAX & . Interior artists working on these projects include Riccardo Burchielli, Leandro Fernandez, Tristan Jones, and Mark Sexton, while covers will be illustrated by Tommy Lee Edwards.

From Oscar-winning filmmaker George Miller (“Happy Feet”), originator of the post-apocalyptic genre and mastermind behind the legendary “Mad Max” franchise, comes “Mad Max: Fury Road,” a return to the world of the Road Warrior, Max Rockatansky.

The film stars Tom Hardy, Oscar winner Charlize Theron (“Monster”) Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Josh Helman, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, Zoë Kravitz, Abbey Lee, and Courtney Eaton.

Miller directed the film from a screenplay he wrote with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Miller is also producing the film, along with Doug Mitchell and P.J. Voeten.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Kennedy Miller Mitchell production, a George Miller film, “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Slated for release on May 15, 2015, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.
