Creepy Comics is an old school collection of creepy tales and grotesqueries that pulled me back to the early days of being a comic book fan. Some of the stories are good and are worthy of their place, a few are just silly and irreverent. In parts it reminded me of Viz Magazine. Not entirely a bad thing.

The comic opens with a creepy baseball tale in which a failing team stumble on a foolproof way of devouring their competition, but my headliner was ‘Mad Jack’s Girl’ – a Brighton Rock-type gang who like to throw down, but the girl has the final word in for-kicks violence.

The artwork ranges from Sunday comic strip style to old school monochrome. It’s fitting but nothing special and to be honest that pretty sums up this collection. I just don’t think it earns its place in your library. It doesn’t work hard for you and that’s pretty disappointing.

Rating: 1/5.
