Courtesy of DC Comics, we’ve just been given our first look at Melissa Benoist in the starring role of Warner Bros’ upcoming Supergirl TV series .

The pics show Benoist in an outfit designed by three time Oscar winning costume designed Coleen Atwood, who says: “In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today.”

Supergirl’s pilot episode is currently in production for CBS and also stars Mehcad Brooks (Jimmy Olsen), Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant), Chyler Leigh (Alexandra “Alex” Danvers), David Harewood (Hank Henshaw), Faran Tahir (The Commander), Dean Cain and Helen Slater (both in unspecified roles).
