Marvel have just announced their latest series to launch out of their upcoming Secret Wars event.Set during the Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s iconic New X-Men run, E Is For Extinction – from writer Chris Burnham and artist Ramon Villalobos – will take an alternate look at the world of the early noughties series, as the world finds revering mutants rather than hating and fearing them.
Speaking about the announcement, Burnham said; “It’s almost like another take on events from the first issue and spin wildly out of control from there. It’s not quite a ‘What If…?’ or alternate timeline, it’s just coming out of the ‘Secret Wars’ events.”
He also talked a little about what characters readers can expect to see in the series, adding ” “It’s almost everyone that you remember, in varying degrees,” said Burnham. “The only person I don’t think we’re using is Fantomex. He appears so much in the normal comics, in the ‘X-Force’ comics. He’s sort of grown beyond the Morrison/Quitely run, in his own right. But a lot of the other characters, in my perspective at least, I still associate them mostly with Grant’s run. So it’s just about everyone that you want to see will be in there, in some degree or another.”
The official solicitation info can be found below, along with some of Villalobos’ typically distinctive concept artwork.
We’re definitely excited about this series here at BCP Towers, but what do you guys think? Yay or nay?
