Today at C2E2, DC have announced that Frank Miller will be making his return the world of Batman with a brand new 8-part series entitled The Dark Knight III: The Master Race.
The series will be co-written by Brian Azzarello, who was clearly excited about the project, saying “It’s been an amazing experience collaborating with Frank these past six months. I think we have an epic story that these characters truly deserve.”
Miller added “Batman remains my favorite comic book hero and a sequel to Dark Knight is going to be daunting, but we’ll do our best.”
The series will launch this fall, with the artist (or artists) still to be confirmed.
It’s definitely an interesting announcement, and not just because of *that* title. The Dark Knight Returns is widely regarded as one of the best (if not the best) Batman stories of all time, while its follow-up The Dark Knight Strikes Again… well… isn’t, being met with almost unanimous disapproval.
Either way, we’ll keep you updated – somewhat warily – as more details of this story are announced.
