This book is batshit crazy. I want to just get that out of the way now. From the psychedelic colour scheme to the yellowed pages to the spaceship that’s a skull. Yep. A skull. It might be batshit crazy, but I love it.

There’s a fair bit of story in this one, with flashbacks to the crew’s lives along with a couple of teases for later story perhaps? But the most important part of the issue, to me, was either *that* kiss, or THE HUGE GODDAMN SPACE WHALE. If I could get that splash page up on my wall, I honesty think I’d just stare at it for hours.

The major draw point of the book was definitely the art style (see what i did there?), a style that seems to lie somewhere between adult swim, 90’s punk rock album covers, a bad acid trip, and Heavy Metal Magazine. There’s just something about it that is pleasing to look at, but at the same time, you can’t help but have the nagging feeling you’re far too sober for this sort of thing.

With the addition of another ship later on in the book, you have to wonder what’s still to come in the last two issues. Honestly though, I’m not too concerned, because if the first two issues are anything to go by, its going to be amazing regardless.

If you’re only going to get one book this week, make sure it’s this one. You won’t be disappointed.

Rating: 5/5.
