Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Writer: Chuck Palahniuk
Artist: Cameron Stewart
Release Date: 22nd July, 2015

Have to say, I was pretty glad to have the recap page at the start of this issue as I’m still not entirely sure what’s going on at all. There’s a nice design choice to it all as well, which is one of the main plus points to the entire thing.

Stewart is an absolute machine when it come to the art on the series, with interesting page designs, strong, clean lines and a style that is wholly recognizable but distinctively unique. It’s refreshing to see an artist that can go from something so superhero-heavy like Batgirl to something super realistic and “normal” like Fight Club 2. The way that he has characterized both aspects of Tyler’s personality, to the point where they really are separate people is a little confusing at first but still easy to get your head around.

Story wise, I’m still none the wiser as to where it’s all going and the issue raised more questions than it answers. However, for some reason, in spite of my confusion I’m still enjoying every single page and have my own theories as to where it is going. The reintroduction of Project Mayhem was bound to happen, but its safe to say I didn’t see Palahniuk pulling a Morrison with it!

Palahniuk is doing something strange here; as a novelist, he has a distinctive writing style and has approached the book in a similar fashion. What I mean by that is that it may seem slightly slow at the moment, but it’s all building to something and I’m sure that as a whole piece, it will all make sense. It just doesn’t seem to right now.

Something something we don’t talk about Fight Club. Something something still hooked on it like morphine.

Rating: 4/5 (gains a point for Cameron Stewart’s art).
