So having looked at something as mightily impressive as the Plastcraft church, this week on Geeking Out we’re looking at some of their smaller, more modestly priced sets.

Post-apocalyptic Power station – €19 [LINK]

This two-part set is from the excellent, generic post-apocalypse line. General urban ruination suits any modern or near future game, and to be honest this wouldn’t even be out of place in a hard or far future sci-fi game either, on some remote colony world or other.

The shack is fantastic. I particularly love the use of corrugated plastic for the roof. I was worried that, being white, it would detract from the overall effect and end up looking odd, but – whilst perhaps it may have been better printed on grey – it’s still very nice indeed. I’ll freely admit, I pushed my satellite/TV/receiver parts down a little too hard – gently does it! Supergluing is essential on this one, and it’s pretty finicky, although only whe compared  to the (oddly easy) church.

I’m less sold on the nodding donkey. It’s a very easy build for something so apparently complex, being well balanced and quick to assemble, but the sheer amount of grey really detracts from the aesthetic. It looks unfinished and when you’re choosing to pay a premium for pre-printed terrain, surely it makes sense to add a couple of Euros onto the cost to keep the look of the thing consistent. So overall, a bit of mixed bag with this set.

Passage of Terror – €18 [LINK]

Now this set, designed to complement Wyrd’s Malifaux range, is my sort of terrain. Although it’s ostensibly for Bayou Steampunk (…yup) the circus range in particular is so very well suited to Batman especially that I may have let out a little squee of excitement.

The buildings don’t disappoint: they’re quirky, robust and fit right into a joker circus or a penguin carnival. What’s particularly good is that they could just as easily be found in a regular urban area or indeed a post apocalyptic setting – and versatility is key.

An absolute bargain at the price.

And what of our prize draw? That’s why you’re really here, right?!

Okay, so, every comment, like, share, tweet got folk an entry. And the winner is…

Congratulations, get in touch to claim your prize! Huge thanks also to plastcraft.eu for providing this church o’ geek!
