The Transformers franchise has been around for decades allowing it to invade several different media platforms. Starting as a toy line, the Transformers quickly became a comic book before successfully making the transition to television series. Thanks to Machinima, original web series can be added to the list.

Starscream is the third “Prelude to Transformers: Combiner Wars” video. In it, Starscream soars among the clouds – to a 90s-esque guitar riff – narrating how life has changed since the end of the Cybertronian wars. He no longer a villain, but a council member that rules over Cybertron. Rodimus Prime and The Mistress of Flame – making her animated debut (outside of IDW’s Transformers comics) – make up the other council members.

Even though the animation can be a bit choppy, “Combiner Wars” promises to be a beautifully animated series heavily influence by the G1 art style but with a bit more detail. It should draw G1 fan base in while also creating new fans in the process.

The next prelude rolls out on July 19 starring the first ever fan created Transformer: Windblade .

Machinima’s “Transformers: Combiner Wars” miniseries begins on Aug. 2nd.
