After her huge success in the movie, “Room”, for which Larson won an Oscar, she will be taking the role of the Title Character, in Marvel Studios first Female Fronted Solo Movie, Captain Marvel.

The actress has been long rumoured to be in the role, but at the Marvel Studios Panel at SDCC, Studio Head Kevin Feige introduced the actress to adoring fans.
Gathering the cast for a “Family Selfie”, Feige said, “It wouldn’t be complete without the newest member of the Marvel Gang” before introducing the actress.

The film itself is currently without a director, though Marvel is apparently keen on a female touch, with Jennifer Kent (Babadook) and Niki Caro (Whale Rider) both rumoured to take the helm. Panic not though, as the film is a way off yet, and we may still see Larson in a cameo role in Avengers 3, much like Marvel has done in the past with characters before they get their main screen appearance.
