While it has previously been confirmed that “God of War” Ares would be the primary villain in DC’s Wonder Woman movie later this year, it now seems that we might have confirmation of who will be playing him.

Numerous sources are suggesting that David Thewlis, best known as Professor Lupin in the Harry Potter movies, will be filling the role.

It’s also being suggested that Ares will be a mixture of practical and CGI effects, which makes sense given the character’s frequent depiction as a hulking, armour-clad behemoth.

So, what do we think of the casting, and of the inclusion of Ares as the film’s “big bad”?

Wonder Woman hits cinemas on June 2nd.
