Image comics announced multiple new titles at New York Comic Con, including Analog, a new ongoing series being written by Gerry Duggan. Best known for his work on Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy, this will Duggan’s third title under the Image banner, having previously published The Last Christmas and The Infinite Horizon with them.

Gerry Duggan will be teaming up with artist David O’Sullivan, and colourist Jordie Bellaire for the series.

When talking about the new title, Duggan summarised the book with this quote:

What if the internet became less reliable?

‘When asked that question, we came up with some very funny, surreal and dangerous answers, because secrets can no longer be trusted to be transmitted online anymore. Secrets are entrusted to men with briefcases and guns.’

The basic security of the internet crumbles after devastating attacks on the internet result in mass doxxing. People, corporations and governments are all affected and the world is changed overnight.

The story focuses on a character called Jack McGinnis, who is a hard-drinking, hard headed former member of the US intelligence community now earning a living as a “ledger man”.

‘Part of the fun of it is we get to live in a world in Analog where people don’t interface with the internet in the same way that they do in our lives. It’s a grim, fun world that also has a brightness to it.’

‘There is Artificial Intelligence in this new future and it takes it personally. I think we managed to visualise that and made a really strong, fun statement. It works really well in a comic.’

When asked about the story, Gerry told us a little bit about how the first arc would progress.

‘It’s not really about the internet, it’s about us. The first arc introduces all the key players, and it’s about catching up with Jack as he’s on the job, and the people he meets. Jack will slowly reveal the world as he travels’.

The story has action, romance and laughs and is set to be released in April next year, with some extra digital content set to be included.

  1. […] We’ve been massively excited about ANALOG from Image Comics since Louise first found out about it at NYCC 2017. […]

  2. […] Gerry Duggan continues his work with Image with another new title coming out next year called Analog. Analog sees Duggan team up with artist David O’Sullivan to create a world where all hope is lost and yet a glimmer exists in the very person who tipped it into the abyss. The basic security of the internet crumbles after attacks on the internet result in mass doxxing. People, corporations and governments are all affected, and secrets once entrusted to encrypted emails are now printed on paper, put into briefcases and sent around the world via armed couriers. The comic will be an ongoing series launched in the Spring of next year. […]
