AfterShock Announces Dark, Supernatural Political Thriller RED ATLANTIS
This June, writer Stephanie Phillips is set to debut RED ATLANTIS, her third creator-owned series with AfterShock Comics, alongside talented artist Robert Carey.
The story deals with what happens when a Texas journalism student named Miriam finds herself mixed up in a series of violent events which are linked to a Russian terrorists with the ability of mind control. Miriam finds herself being dragged into a world of espionage and political intrigue as she learns secrets about Russia and about herself.
“Red Atlantis was actually created by Jan Neumann, a former intelligence officer in Russia’s Federal Security Service.” Said Phillips. “After defecting to the U.S. with his wife in 2008, Jan worked with the FBI to find and apprehend European mobsters. Red Atlantis is Jan’s brainchild and born from a lot of his own experiences, as well as the history of the U.S. and Russia’s tense relationship.”
She continued, adding “There are a lot of familiar themes – espionage, politics, Russia/US tension – but the story brings a supernatural element that is actually steeped in history.”
Featuring lettering by Troy Peteri, a main cover by Robert Hack and an Incentive Variant by Tim Bradstreet, RED ATLANTIS #1 hits shelves and digital platforms on the 10th of June 2020, and you can feast your eyes on some unlettered preview artwork below.
