Per The Hollywood Reporter, Dakota Johnson is currently in talks to play the title character in Madame Web, the upcoming Sony Spider-Man spinoff.

The movie, which is penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the pair behind fellow Spider-Man spinoff Morbius, will be directed by S.J. Clarkson.

Madame Webb is the latest attempt by Sony to try and parlay the immense success of their Tom Holland led Spider-Man franchise into a series of spin-offs, and joins the likes of Venom (2018) and Venom Let There Be Carnage (2020) alongside Morbius (set for released in April) and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter solo movie in their rapidly expanding slate.
