Longtime friend of the Big Comic Page Alan Henderson has just launched the final ever Kickstarter for his Penned Guin webcomic after announcing he was bringing the popular online series to a close after twelve long years and over 2,500 strips.

“The Bell” pulls together over 170 of Alan’s daily comic strips into an A5 landscape book featuring all the puns, parodies, dad jokes and cringing gags we’ve all come to expect from the penguin crew over the years.

Longtime followers of the Big Comic Page will know that we’re huge fans of Alan and his distinctive style, which we’ve previously described as “a relentless machine gun of gags and puns”, so it’s with a bit of a heavy heart that we’re getting ready to say goodbye to The Penned Guin, which has brightened up our days significantly over the last decade.

In a post on Facebook, Alan cited becoming “bitter and twisted by the algorithm as well as the splintering of social media” as one of the main reasons for bringing the series to an end, which should definitely feel familiar to anyone who tries to use social media for business purposes these days.

The final Kickstarter campaign will give fans the chance to pick up the new book, as well as “What’s Next?”, the previous book in the series, original Penned Guin artwork, and – amazingly – the opportunity to commission a strip of your very own!

The campaign will run until Saturday the 10th of February, and can be found by CLICKING HERE.

All the best in the future, Alan.  We’ll miss groaning at your terrible puns on a weekly basis!
