After being teased previously, Mattel Creations have officially announced their latest Masters of the Universe Origins release in the form of Extendar, who will be able to pre-order on May 22nd 2024 at 9am PT.

For those unfamiliar with this (admittedly fairly niche) character, Extendar was one of the later figures released in the vintage MOTU line, hitting shelves in 1986 as part of the fifth wave of toys.  Boasting (as you might expect) the ability to extend his legs, arms, neck and torso, he was a fairly unusual looking figure with an admittedly well-executed gimmick.

The MOTU Origins release boasts the same limb extension, taking the figure’s height from the standard 5.5 inches to a whopping 8 inches, and comes packaged with a folding shield and the traditional minicomic.

Given their ongoing challenges with distribution, Mattel using their “Creations” platform to allow collectors to pre-order new figures is, in theory at least, a pretty solid idea. Unfortunately, the limited window of opportunity to order each figure, coupled with the exorbitant £9 shipping costs (which cannot be combined for multiple releases, despite how frequently Mattel are releasing new figs), is leaving something of a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths.

That said, if you’re interested in this one fancy nabbing one for yourself, it’ll be available on the Mattel Creations website at 9am PT on Wednesday the 22nd of May.
