Mattel Creations certainly aren’t messing around with the pace of their Masters of the Universe releases these days. Just three weeks after the hugely popular launch of MOTU Origins Extendar, the toy giant have just announced their next online offering in the form of Masters of the Universe Origins Night Stalker, which will be available on the 18th of June.

Originally released back in 1985, the “Evil Armored Battle Steed” was imagined as a counterpart for “Heroic Armored War Horse” Stridor, much in the way Panthor was the evil version of Battle Cat.  Despite some paint job and sticker differences the two models were basically identical, although Stridor had a removeable helmet that Stridor was lacking.  For my money, the gold and purple colour scheme looked way cooler than Stridor’s orange and brown, so I can certainly imagine a lot of people getting excited about this new release from a nostalgia and completist perspective.

Okay okay, so it’s yet another repaint, but a lot of people have been asking for this one in the online He-Man community, so in that respect it’s good that their wishes are being granted. Personally, I’m not really convinced about this one for a couple of reasons. Firstly, Stridor isn’t exactly flying off the shelves at the moment, and if Night Stalker got a conventional retail release it would likely end up in exactly the same situation.  Secondly, the price point is… well, it’s certainly something.  I could hop online right now and pick up a Stridor for about £15-20, so creating artificial scarcity to justify a £32 price (plus that oh-so-popular £9 flat rate shipping) for this one seems less than ideal.

Masters of the Universe Origins Night Stalker will be available to order for a (very) limited time on the 18th of June 2024 at 9am PT (CLICK HERE)
