DC have announced two new formats for their digital comics, which actually sound really interesting (to those of you who don’t already hate the medium, I guess).

DC² is new style with dynamic artwork being applied to the regular digital panels (with layer transitions, characters appearing/disappearing, etc. similar to Marvel’s ‘Infinte’ series, I’d assume), designed to add a further dimension to the digital comic experience.

Perhaps more interestingly, DC² Multiverse actually allows the reader to shape the story as they read through it, in an almost ‘choose your own adventure’ style.

DC² will debut with the upcoming Batman ’66 title based on the iconic 1960’s TV show, and if you want to find out more about the series, you can check out our exclusive interview with the series’ artist Jonathan Case HERE.

DC² Multiverse will be introduced with the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins digital title, and will also feature action sounds and an integrated soundtrack as the story progresses.

DC has been a firm supporter of the digital delivery method, switching all their titles to ‘Same-Day-Digital’, as well as publishing a wide variety of digital-exclusive titles such as Injustice: Gods Among Us, Smallville, Legends of the Dark Knight and Arrow.

So what do we think? Pointless gimmick, or natural evolution of the medium?
