DC Comics announced via their website on Friday that all of this coming Septembers villains month issues are to be collected in an omnibus edition.
Within DC’s link Dan Didio was quoted to have said;
“What we did back in 2011 was relaunch our entire line. In 2012, we went back and looked at all our heroes with Zero Month and told some early stories and origins. This September we wanted to try something a little different and really explore our villain base, and show the challenges our heroes face with every story and every issue, because of the strength of the characters taking over their books in that month.”
And the other head honcho Jim Lee is quoted as saying;
“We launched the New 52 with all-new continuity and new costumes, Zero Month was all about origins of our heroes, and now the villains are taking over. One of the strengths of the DC Universe has been the strength of the rogues gallery. Often times they’re as famous – if not more infamous – than our heroes.”
So going by this it is a safe bet that the DC business model will throw something differant each September even though it’s not that will come as a surprise.
The omnibus will be released on the 11th of December via comic book stores and the 17th of December in bookstores. Which is interesting given that it will be in stores just in time for Christmas. This would beg the question is that deliberate or not? and if it is was that why September is now traditionally the month where changes take place?
Regardless we await excitedly for the issues to reach shelves and given the sheer number of classic villains such as Zod, Riddler, Joker, Darkseid and Lobo among others it could be actually work out more efficient to just wait and get them collected.
