Movie news round up: Cavill on Justice League rumors!, Armie in Ant-Man?, Legendary/Warner split and The HOFF

legendary-pictures-logoFirst up is the news that Legendary pictures and Warner Brothers have parted ways which may come as a bit of a shock and cause worry amongst DC fans considering the last movie without Legendary Pictures involvement was Green Lantern and we all know how that turned out. As it stands though WB want to have more of a hand on approach with their movies and aim to fund them solely while recieving 100% of profits they make rather than dividing cost/income with other studios as they have in the past with Nolans Dark Knight trilogy and more recently, Man of Steel.

In related news, Henry Cavill gave his opinion on the Justice League movie in an interview with ABC news and expressed his feelings about not wanting to rush into the franchise just yet.

“Justice League could be great if done correctly. It’s a very tough one to do because the DC comic heroes are all god-like in their power. So in this real world setting we’re telling our story in, it’s going to be tough to achieve that and it has to be done very delicately with a lot of thought. It won’t be right away, I hope it’s not anyway. It may take some time of building up other movies and other characters and introducing them together in one way or another. I think it would be great to do, but I don’t think it’s around the corner.”

Armie Hammer who stars in The Lone Ranger recently fanned the flames of the rumour mill when he was spotted on the set of The Winter Soldier with Edgar Wright. He was quizzed about the appearance at a media event promoting The Lone Ranger but seemed to pretend to not know who Edgar Write was and stated he did not know anything about playing Ant-Man……we’re not sure we believe him. TLR is under the Disney banner so it’s not a far stretch of the imagination to imagine him landing a role in a Marvel movie in the future, Maybe he will play Hank Pym, Maybe he won’t but until such rumours are confirmed/debunked we will have fun speculating.

Finally in a bizarre bit of comic news, THE HOFF is getting his own comic. YES! David Hasselhoff is set to star in a comic from Retro Comics and is co written by himself and Simon Williams. He is set to appear as a time travelling agent of H.O.F.F. (heroes of fearless freedom) and will team up with the Funk Commandos. The Comic will launch at the London Comic and film Con in July.
