If you we’re wondering what that funny smell was last night, it was the smell of the Internet melting at the latest news to come out of SDCC.
At the end of the Warner Bros. panel, Zack Snyder came out and officially confirmed that there will be another Superman movie, with production starting next year with an expected summer 2015 release date . Which is exciting, sure, but isn’t exactly world-altering, right?
Well, then things got a little crazy. Harry Lennix (General Swanwick from the first Man of Steel Movie) hit the stage and started reading from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.
And, after finishing on the goosebumps-inducing quote “I want you to remember, Clark… in all the years to come, in your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you…” a logo appeared on the big screen mixing the ‘S’ logo with the Bat symbol.
And the Internet went insane.
With Snyder clarifying that “we’re not adapting this thing, but it will help us tell you something”, the panel ended amid widespread hysteria.
The official press release basically echoed what had already been announced, with the added info that Syder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay.
