Publisher: Marvel Comics
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Francesco Francavilla
Release Date: 30th October 2013

I should say from the get go, I wasn’t sure about the new direction of this book. I’ve not been picking up any of the infinity books, i have no idea still what’s happening in the main event and while I’m a huge fan of Francavilla’s art on other books, i had no idea how it would look in a sci-fi setting, especially as it’s such a departure from how the book has looked for the last 7 issues.

How wrong I was. I really should just learn to trust my instincts when it comes to these things as this book is still fantastic. Francavilla’s art is superb, and while some of the panels look a bit strange with a different take on Groot and RR, his splash pages and attention to detail gives the book a more serious tone that is needed for the subject manner.

Bendis’ writing is exactly what we’ve came to expect from him, with enough witty dialogue to cut into what is a pretty serious book. The basic run down is that Thanos’ armada is quickly approaching earth and Peter has to think of a plan quick to try and stop it, Gamora not happy, Abigail Brand needs help.

While it doesn’t make me want to go anywhere near the main book, I’m glad that it still feels like a GOTG book and Francavilla is a welcome addition to the team.

Rating: 8/10.
