Iron Man 3 leads Disney Studios to Bumper Box Office Takings
Disney studios reported record breaking box office takings for this year so far with their box office takings exceeding $4 Billion globally….So far this year. The interesting thing about this is of course that a the largest portion of those taking seems to be made of Marvel properties with Iron Man 3 grossing the largest majority of Disney Studios Box office takings with $1.21 billion.
Not even traditional Disney staples like Pixar could quite match that with Monsters University bringing Disney in $744 million which is no small sum. When combined with Thor: The Dark World which is still in theatrical release it is likely to see Marvel generate the studios in excess of $2 billion for 2013 alone.
This is just another year where Marvel has dominated most of the box office with Iron Man being the largest grossing movie this year (5th of all time) where as last year it was The Avengers which took just over a billion and a half and earning Disney the 3rd largest gross of all time not taking into account inflation.
In comparison DC Entertainment earned parent company Warner Brothers just shy of $663 billion globally at the box office which would place it 65th according to boxofficemojo.com figures.
