The Associated Press have announced a new weekly series from DC entitled The New 52: Futures End.

The series, to be written by Jeff Lemire, Dan Jurgens, Keith Giffen and Brian Azzarello will be set five years in the future.

Launching in stores across the country with a #0 issue on Free Comic Book Day 2014, the series promises to be accessible to current fans and new readers alike.

In the article, Lemire says “Really, what we’re trying to do with this book is to explore the nature of what a hero is and we’re doing that, obviously by playing with the future of the New 52 timeline. Past present and future all colliding in this story line.”

Given the writing talent attached to the title, you can definitely count me in. But what do you guys think? Interesting prospect or tacky gimmick?

Sound off in the comments.
