Has Avengers: Age of Ultron Just Gone Patriotic?

DONIRONWell it has been confirmed that Don Cheadle WILL be in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It all started with a report on Bleeding Cool which was subsequently confirmed by Hitflix that Cheadle’s involvement in the film is now a certainty. In fact Hitflix went as far as saying “has a key role in the conflict with Ultron that is the main focus of the sequel.”

Now lets think about that for a second, If true that would definitely rule out the obligatory cameo like the one given to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Pots in the first Avenger’s movie. The last we seen of Iron Man himself in Iron Man 3 he had relinquished his armors and Arc reactor technology (save for Rhodey) to begin a new civilian life.

It is most definitely naive to assume Robert Downey Jnr’s Tony Stark wont suit up come 2015 but going back to the theme left at the end of Iron Man 3 and the fact RDJ can’t play Iron man indefinitely. Could Rhodey finally get a chance to shine after all In the comics during Tony’s absence from the armor while he dealt with alcoholism (which we never got because … hey Disney!) who stepped into the armor?, The answer of course being Rhodey.

So will he be War Machine, Iron Patriot or the even Iron Man hismelf come this “key role in the conflict“?, That has yet to be seen.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in theatres on May 1, 2015.
