In the latest in its successful and critically-acclaimed series of classic comic strip collections, IDW Publishing have announced that their next release will be a collection of the original Batman newspaper strips.
The strips made their appearance during the height of the Adam West/Burt Ward TV show’s popularity, and were written by Whitney Ellsworth and illustrated by Joe Giella, Shelly Modloff and Carmine Infantino.
On the collection, editor Dean Mullaney said “Ellsworth and the artists perfectly captured the flavor of the television show. It’s a tremendous amount of fun, both as nostalgia and as a unique creation of its time.”
The first 256 page hardcover volume will cover the strips from 1966 and 1967, and will feature the likes of The Joker, Catwoman, Batgirl and Penguin.
So what do we think? Sounds pretty sweet to me, and a great chance to take a step back in time to the height of Bat-mania.
