‘Gotham’ TV series has a director, for its pilot at least.
Deadline is reporting that Danny Cannon has agreed to direct (and executive produce) the pilot for Fox’s ‘Gotham’ TV series.
The series, which promises to “explore the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham famous”, is to be written by The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller.
Cannon has some previous experience in this area, having directed pilots for CSI franchise, Nikita and The Tomorrow People. Outside of his television work he has directed a number of feature films, most infamously the 1995 adaptation of Judge Dredd.
The show already has a series commitment, and will focus on a pre-Batman Gotham, although it has been suggested that a child actor is being sought for a series regular role as Bruce Wayne, and that Detective Gordon’s first case will be the murder of the Waynes.
The pieces seem to be falling into place for this project slowly but surely, but what do you guys think? Excited or apprehensive?
