Warner Bros. Officially Announces Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth
For all those hoping for Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston … You are allowed to sigh now. But it looks as the Warner Bros. has found their Lex and Alfred.
Now those are not two names that you would conventionally think of, Although Jesse Eisenberg has played serous roles for example “The Social Network”, His body of work has been largely comedic. To the point that he is often compared with Michael Cera based on looks and performance choices.

Jesse as Facebook founder “Mark Zuckerberg”.
On the other hand Jeremy Irons is significantly younger than the last Alfred which is a surprising choice, given they are making Bruce Wayne older in the as yet untitled Superman/Batman movie. The actor also hasn’t been very popular as of late after a questionable interview with HuffPost [See Below] last year and a memeworthy tendency towards hammy acting.
Zack Snyder said of the choices “Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940. What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”
Later adding “As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure. He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious façade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.”
Full details of the announcement are available via Business Wire.
Surely these choices will further split opinions on the casting of this movie, Perhaps that is why they announced both at the same time.
We will keep you updated on the casting of this flick as it happens.

I admire them not going for the obvious choice with Luthor, but Eisenberg????
The general consensus seems to be someone misheard “Heisenberg”.
Haha. Nice one.
