The Sci-Fi comic genre seems to be kicking into high gear for Image Comics in 2014. You have the universe-traveling “Black Science” and now Space’s very own super hero team, EGOs (Earth Galactic Operatives). I’m all for it more than just the average super hero story it gives us new environments, new creatures and space travel! EGOs is a refreshing mix of super hero and sci-fi that takes us deep into space and introduces a new world for our imaginations to travel to.

Stuart Moore has developed a rather intriguing story with multiple characters that are developed to the point where you want to learn more about who they are where they come from and more importantly where they are going. As with any other sci-fi book, Moore also has the ability to create whatever he wants. As you well know, space is the final frontier and, well, no one really knows what’s out there! Whether it is a mass of energy that is swallowing worlds and galaxies or new planets and species, the options are limitless. The only part of his storytelling that is leaving me pondering whether to continue with this story is the narrator, who we find out is Deuce’s son, however no explanation is given as of yet as to why he is narrating.

The artwork of Gus Storms, while fairly simple and plain, fits the story well. His style is not one that would make me pick up a title based on artwork alone, but as I continued read it did start to grow on me. It seems that at times Storms doesn’t seem to keep continuity with the characters features however,  with them occasionaly changing from panel to panel.

Overall however, this is a decent sci-fi story that does grab your attention and leave you wondering where the story will go next or what kind of villain or hero will be introduced next.

Rating: 3/5.
