Now when I said I would cover this weeks EU, I wasn’t 100 percent certain of what to discuss after all finding something specifically non-comic book related that will generate excitement on a comic book site is hard to judge. That was until a few days ago when news broke that Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is to receive a sequel and well I gotta say. the news has got me excited.For those not aware Tucker and Dale vs. Evil was a 2010 comedy-horror film that has achieved some level of success but was largely unnoticed . The movie itself is send up of the Don’t go to a rural setting or a local will kill you scenario as gentle yet hillbilly friends Tucker and Dale retreat to the woods for the weekend to grab a few beers. At the same time a group of particularly young and attractive teens make their way to the woods, After one of them is injured and taken in by Tucker (Alan Tudyk) and Dale (Tyler Labine). The film is quite subversive and turns the tired and weary tropes of slasher films on their head as generally likable pair Tucker and Dale’s actions are always misrepresented by the teens, Leading the group to either have fatal accidents or attacking Dale and Tucker as they picture the two as backward monsters doing god knows what to their friend, when nothing could be further from the truth.
It has the genre laughs to appeal to horror fans but is smart enough to find admirers in the most horror cynical. So clearly there is a lot of promise in this yet to be produced sequel. For a reminder of the first flick here is the trailer;
